  2. Currently, it is possible for a replacement player to enter a game, set all the ships to "gsx" and leave the game. When a player leaves a game in the same turn they enter it, the turn should be reset.

    While this change would not remove the problem, it would make the exchange more visible to the other players, and give them a chance to respond.

  3. In game 32177 all players allied with one player on the first turn. On the second turn all players could see the planets scouted by the other players. This is a violation of SISA. I have decided to bring it up here rather than bring suit against Thin in the intergalactic court.

    The min and max rank for players entering a game are static. Once set, they remain where they are for the duration of the game. This can cause problems when new players join the game. I've seen a newbie player enter a beginner game near the end, and completely change the balance of the game.

    My suggestion is that, after the game starts, the min rank be set to the lowest rank (or possibly one lower) of an active player, and that the max rank be set to the highest rank (or possibly one higher) of an active player.…

  5. Some of us on Nu would like to propose some modest modifications to Ion Storms to limit the degree of adverse impact in games.

    As currently implemented, an ion storm can appear without warning, completely changing the balance of a sector. This can be inherently unfair as players would have invested months if not a year or more into the outcome of a particular game.

    After discussion with some players on this issue, the ratified suggestions for implementation would be:

    1.) Allow at least one turn warning before a storm appears in a particular spot. With that one turn window…

  6. Add directional arrows or other indicators that visually shows which way the ship will travel from a starmap view.

    That way you can quickly see movement of ships / cargo across whole map.

    This is especially helpful with Firecloud chunnels.

    Basically you need a ship of race x in Orbit and you set the Fcode of the planet to "gpx". After hostrun the planet with all bases and population will be owned by race x

  8. ... it should not even show games you couldn't join anyway, as a default filter... and, it should be able to select "beginners" or "team games" only, for example.

    A control box selecting a max of "x" turns from game start could be useful too...

  9. Give us one extra field to game history - where we could post a brief comment regarding the game, explanation about resign etc.

    Would make player history browsing a bit more interesting and useful.

  10. When you set multiple waypoints for a ship it would be great to have a dot to indicate each step. Also, those dots should be "sticky" or clickable like the new single waypoints are.

    On a related note, it would be great to have waypoints clickable by the measuring tool instead of having to try and zero in as close as possible with the cursor. Sometimes you want your ship exactly a certain distance from a planet. For example to use it's warpwell next turn or to stay out of intercept range.

  13. It happens from time to time that the color palette isn't closed after selecting a color. It then stays on the screen and the only solution is to close the browser tab.

  16. I just sent a "contact" message to the planets.nu guys... but since it's free... I'm also posting a suggestion here :D

    Ages ago, I recall having used some plug-in named Armageddon to abruptly end our games in a spectacular way when all players agreed that the current game was lingering too much, and we wanted to start another one.

  17. In original VGAP there was a configuration that allowed you to change the names of the races. Presumably for copyright purposes, Tim never used the proper names he was clearly designing the races after. So the Federation became the feds, the Galactic Empire became the Evil Empire, etc. But with this configuration that Tim included you could enter in whatever you wanted to call your race.

    There were three changes you could make for each race. I recall the first two being very similar, as being the Long form noun, and the shortened noun. The third was the adjective describing…

  18. Hi,

    Many of us have entered Nu with whatever name or came in from the social media and have to stick to this one name, whether they want or not.

    On some profile pages you can find different names than the original when entering, so there might be the need for a changeable avatar name... doesn't have to be indefinetely, but a change should be possible.

    somehow the 'display name' field seems not to have any effect, btw..

    could this please be implemented/debugged?

  19. I really get mad with the message interface.
    It's horrible when having multiple conversations in parallel.
    Took minutes to find some message.
    It is worse at the cellphone, frequently I want to scroll up and it try to refresh the page, it very hard to scroll using the thin scroll bar.

    My suggestion :
    1) when used in the computer, use the full screen, why it's limited to 1/4 of the screen?? this is pointless.
    2) Don't show ANYBODY MESSAGE, only the players involved at that conversation and the subject( 1st line of the 1st message) if you click over…

  20. A few of us have been talking about an addition of another 'hotkey' that would place an 8 LY ring(s) exactly like HYP, around any planet/ship/open space. It would certainly be a great help in navigation, with no additional racial grumblings.
