  1. Fix fighter bays not launching due to VCR Random Number List

    Please implement the possible fix described in detail by Joshua in the third post on this page:

    • Modify behavior of Ion Storms to limit their degree of adverse impact.

      Some of us on Nu would like to propose some modest modifications to Ion Storms to limit the degree of adverse impact in games.

      As currently implemented, an ion storm can appear without warning, completely changing the balance of a sector. This can be inherently unfair as players would have invested months if not a year or more into the outcome of a particular game.

      After discussion with some players on this issue, the ratified suggestions for implementation would be:

      1.) Allow at least one turn warning before a storm appears in a particular spot. With that one turn window…

      • I'd like to see the ability to convert supplies to credits while on the ship build screen at stardock.

        Right now when we're building ships, it often results in jumping back to the planet trade window or other screen where we can convert supplies to credits to pay for construction. Why not have that on the same page?

        • Change the tenacity system completely!

          The current tenacity system sucks completely. Due to rl illness, I missed three turns in three games and was dropped! I could NOT rejoin for some reason and my tenacity went from around 65% to -16%

          First there is NO way tenacity should EVER be <0% OR >100%! Don't make sense!

          I suggest a new way to calculate "tenacity"!

          1) The percentage of turns played vs turns you should have played! So if you played 75% of your turns that would be your tenacity rating!

          2) The percentage of games played + games still active to the number of…

          • Create official 2v2 Blitz format

            Making request for official 2v2 Blitz format.

            Some people have said that this is not needed because you can just create your own custom game, but here's why that's not true:

            Reasons why an official 2v2 Blitz format is needed:

            - You can't create publicly listed games with < 8 players. Thus, 2v2 Blitz games can't be advertised well and will be hard to get started.

            - Setting up a map with the right settings so that you get the right starting locations is a non-trivial task. I've already tried half a dozen times by fiddling with the map creation…

            • Android Client Message Bug

              CSY found a bug in the Android version of Planets Nu. Putting a pound sign (#) anywhere in the message causes it and the portion following to be trimmed AND also to be posted as a new topic to the public feed.

              CSY can reproduce this problem both on my phone and in the BlueStacks environment.

                privateers have not a powerful torpedo ship as flagship, I would like a ship tech level 10 with 10 beams and 6 or 8 weapon Torps with good fuel load and cargo.

                  I don't see a ticket for Ace Rimmer's suggestion, so here's me adding one:

                  Lone Wolf format: adding this type of game into to the regular game system and game hosting by allowing the "Lone Wolf" type of game to outlaw Diplomacy, "gsx" friendly codes and maybe even the force surrender starbase mission making it impossible for races to work together. Only posting on the public game feed would be allowed.

                    http://planets.nu/#/howtoplay/ion-storms has a link reference to "Cloudy Ion Disturbances" (http://planets.nu/#/howtoplay/stellar-cartography). The linked page says nothing about Cloudy Ion Disturbances but contains information on "Complex Ion Storms" which appear to have a similar description. Someone should figure out what it should be called and make the pages match. Would also be nice if the ion-storms page mentioned that voltage can increase/decrease 0-10MeV depending on if the ion storm is growing or shrinking, instead of relying on a (well written) third party page.

                    • Please add directional arrow or indicators to HYP jumps and Firecloud Chunnels

                      Add directional arrows or other indicators that visually shows which way the ship will travel from a starmap view.

                      That way you can quickly see movement of ships / cargo across whole map.

                      This is especially helpful with Firecloud chunnels.

                        Ages ago, I recall having used some plug-in named Armageddon to abruptly end our games in a spectacular way when all players agreed that the current game was lingering too much, and we wanted to start another one.

                          Please consider adding the 'q' hotkey listener to planes/starbase screen... in addition also the 'p' hokey (planet names), 's' hotkey (search) which is also missing from Ship screen... and the 'z' hokey listener to the Ship and Starbase screens.

                            A few of us have been talking about an addition of another 'hotkey' that would place an 8 LY ring(s) exactly like HYP, around any planet/ship/open space. It would certainly be a great help in navigation, with no additional racial grumblings.

                              Lord Helmet's useful Mod no longer works. Can it be added to the Planets.Nu interface? It imported map information into the VCR to simulate battles between your own ships and enemies. This was a GREAT time saver!

                              • I suggest that notes be shown when hovering over ship in the Starship/Planetary Interface Pane

                                Currently, if you mouseover a ship, then you'll see info about the ship, but Notes are not shown. It would be good if the mouseover *also* showed the Notes, since this allows you to review notes at-a-glance for the ship that you're currently interested in.

                                I know that you can click the Notes button, but this opens up a pane that needs to be closed after you've looked at the note (which is really just a fiddly bit of extra clicking). That's two clicks for each set of ship notes that you otherwise just want to glance at.

                                    I mean, this fighting rules exist about 20 years. How about make them a real battle between many ships at one time.
                                    That could also decline the problem of having weaker top-level ships compared to the competitors...

                                      When I am browsing the game list, it would be very convenient if I could see the size of the game (how many planets, how many players). Right now if I want to see that information I have to click on each individual game, which is a bit of a pain. It would be nice if it would be listed in the game list under the planet icon.

                                      It would probably be best if it listed players signed up/total player slots, e.g. 5/11 for 5 players in a game with 11 slots.

                                        I'm playing a game as the Fascists. Several times in this game I have had cloaked ships fight a battle (and die). This time I went back and checked. It was cloaked and had no Primary Enemy set. Settings are CloakFail = 0.

                                        • Create in 0 Ally games a option to disable ally relation with start of safe passage

                                          Back to the Planets roots and for the Player who not want jump deep into the game of words (diplomacy) to conquer only with multi race tech. Real 0 ally games was even a long time state of the art in Planets. There are much more reasons to ask why this option is not already available since the Planets nu start! :)
