  1. Allow gameser selects their race to NOT have Horwasp

Currently, if a game allows players to select their race, they may select the Horwasp, even though the Horwasp are only in Alpha. There should be a game creation flag to not allow the player to select Horwasp. This should default to not allowing the Horwasp.

  2. Please implement the possible fix described in detail by Joshua in the third post on this page:

    http://planets.nu/discussion/fighters-not-launching-after-first-wave

partial quote: "we could simply add another 1000 values or whatever to the 119 to make this all much more smooth and prevent this kind of weird thing. So we could certainly "fix" it."

Given the rather common adverse affect this has on low-bay carriers, I would like to see this change implemented.

  3. http://planets.nu/#/howtoplay/ion-storms has a link reference to "Cloudy Ion Disturbances" (http://planets.nu/#/howtoplay/stellar-cartography). The linked page says nothing about Cloudy Ion Disturbances but contains information on "Complex Ion Storms" which appear to have a similar description. Someone should figure out what it should be called and make the pages match. Would also be nice if the ion-storms page mentioned that voltage can increase/decrease 0-10MeV depending on if the ion storm is growing or shrinking, instead of relying on a (well written) third party page.

    Thanks for a great game.

  4. Right now when we're building ships, it often results in jumping back to the planet trade window or other screen where we can convert supplies to credits to pay for construction. Why not have that on the same page?

  5. Back to the Planets roots and for the Player who not want jump deep into the game of words (diplomacy) to conquer only with multi race tech. Real 0 ally games was even a long time state of the art in Planets. There are much more reasons to ask why this option is not already available since the Planets nu start! :)

  6. It's too easy to be RESIGNED from a game with just a single click - especially when you are using a small tablet or a smartphone to check out your turn. Resigning looses ALL CAMPAIGN POINTS, even if you DO JOIN BACK IMMEDIATELY! :(

When clicking RESIGN, a "are you sure?" should appear, then maybe a 2nd one "REALLY SURE? YOU WILL LOOSE ALL HISTORICAL POINTS!".

  7. While orbiting a starbase, similar to the "build torpedo" button that exists for torpedo races. it would add fighters (provided the minerals and credits exist on surface)

this would bring fighter races up to speed and reduce the monotony and repetitive "build fighter" from starbase option

currently the only way is "add 60 figher, transfer 60 fighter, add 60 fighter, transfer 60 fighter, add 60 fighter, transfer 60 fighter"

while this "works" it cant be working as intended

when one is playing a carrier race, and just for example: the borg perhaps building 20+++ biocide per game (just example, we…

  8. idea by Ecatoncheires:

'interest' pre-games list should be (re)ordered dynamically according to the number of players interested.

This compounds the 'like' effect, that is, the games with most interest will float to the top of the list, gain more visibility, and be started faster.

  10. This bug / design flaw allows you to break the tow-lock of any ship (except of grav ships) without even moving. This basically gives you a tow immunity.

Siggi described how to do it:
"You can set your mission to intercept a ship in the same spot. Then set your waypoint 90 ly away.
It would seem this satisfies the long waypoint since when tow lock is calculated your waypoint seems to be 90ly. Then when intercept movement comes your waypoint gets reset to the other ship which is at your same location."

  11. Playing as the Crystals, when you get to the missions menu, you are presented with the '10 20 30 ... quarter half all' mine FC options twice in the lay mines mission, but not at all in the 'Lay web mines mission'

This means that you need to select the 'lay web mines' mission and adjust the FC manually, or select the '10 20 30 ... quarter half all' option in the normal 'lay mines' mission, and then change the mission to 'lay web mines'

It does not affect the functionality, but does make the interface a bit more awkward…

  12. Many have mentioned in the discussion feed how nice it would be to have an edit-button. Many have posted a message and then realised there are silly typos or idea clitches (like this thread http://play.planets.nu/#/activity/1718017 ) or for some reason multiple postings of the same message.

There is no reason these messages should be indestructible. Could there be an edit-button?

Or if editing old messages is seen as problematic, could there at least be a remorse-button so you could modify or delete your messages, if you do it in 15 minutes after you have posted your message? I think this…

  14. Sometimes, while looking at the VCR, the fighter images move at very high speed. This happens most frequently when the "Next" button is clicked on while the previous VCR is playing. Even then, it doesn't happen all the time.

  15. (Reposted from site Feed)

I believe that a change in requirements for promotion is essential.

Look, we've had competitors in the various Wars who have never actually won a game. We've got Fleet Admirals who haven't ever played anything that's not a Melee.

I suggest that flag-rank promotions require, in addition to Experience and Achievement, a certain number of game wins (top 2 in Diplomatic Planets) -- one for Commodore, more for any Admiral. And to make Commodore (which is base eligibility for a championship) should require more than a Beginner win, so we should adapt for that as well.

  16. Currently, it appears that players who are dropped from a game for missing three consecutive turns do NOT receive a Tenacity penalty. This information was derived from the History tab for several players.

The Drop penalty should apply to all games that contribute to the Achievement score. It should be AT LEAST as large as the Resignation penalty. There should be no exemptions.

If a player wants out of a game, a Resignation will cause less impact on the game overall, and only takes a few seconds. IMHO player who has so little consideration that they'll just walk away without…

  17. The Tenacity score currently does not include player Resignations from either Classic or Melee games. I have been informed that this is to allow experienced players to learn new races.

I believe that a better solution would be to have Resignations not count if the player's Rank in the current Race is Lieutenant or lower.

This change would cause the player's Tenacity score to better reflect how tenacious they actually are.

  18. suggestion to add a new tab for each game where the configuration data of the game is shown so it is public knowledge for each game so it is a good help for the decision to join the game (better than the old FC con which is only in-game for the players

  19. As part of the ship capture, the history should be wiped, or at least shortened to the last few turns. I've seen captured ships that have a history that goes back to a starbase. This is too much information to get from a single ship capture.

  20. If we require matching gsX codes to give away a ship, this would stop much of the sham combat to accumulate PBP (and PQ) points we now see.
