Implement Big Beefer's Die Hard ladder system for the whole Planets.nu site
Big Beefer created a full ladder system with built in achievements for Die Hard games. It is awesome - please see it here:
http://planets.nu/_library/diehard/diehard.html
Please implement this system for whole Planets.nu site and add achievement badges to the player profile page.
This does not have to replace existing system in-place, it could compliment it like it does for existing Die Hard games.

Removing my votes as the new badge system is awesome and addresses well the reasons why I put my votes here in the first place.

So what exactly is the proposed ladder system? The diehard page has no documentation on it that i can find.

As far as a ladder saying "You Suck" - how is that different from some players being ranked as Admiral (for whatever reason) and others being lower ranks? I see little difference between rank names and ladder positions. Without comparisons it is meaningless. Consider how important being an Admiral would be in a Navy consisting of only a single person.
Anyway, I do support this suggestion.

This was discussed in the following thread: http://planets.nu/#/activity/1886257
From that thread, a documentation page was created: http://help.planets.nu/Ladder
A status check of the progress of an off-site implementation is in this thread: http://planets.nu/#/activity/1978895

Gnerphk - that is first rational counter argument to implementing a ladder system that carried any weight with me. It deserves some consideration even though the current system does that except it ranks people incorrectly. One way to balance this would be to introduce skill tiers bellow top 100-200 players. Other games do that and it works very well.
What about the achievements and badges for profile page that would distinguish the player for feats such as solo win, win with each race, etc?

I dislike this idea, as it's likely to disincentivize many players.
Very few people will admit to being bad drivers; in fact, nine in ten will say they're "above average". Considering a substantial percentage of the remaining tenth are likely from the American Midwest (and therefore aggressively humble), that says a lot.
Not many of us would enjoy seeing how we truly rate. Showing up to your game and seeing a flashing number that means "YOU SUCK!" is not the world's best motivator.

I agree with several comments on the activity thread - it can co-exist with the achievement system already in place.

I like this idea.
