An error occurred while saving the comment Gnerphk commentedI dislike this idea, as it's likely to disincentivize many players.
Very few people will admit to being bad drivers; in fact, nine in ten will say they're "above average". Considering a substantial percentage of the remaining tenth are likely from the American Midwest (and therefore aggressively humble), that says a lot.
Not many of us would enjoy seeing how we truly rate. Showing up to your game and seeing a flashing number that means "YOU SUCK!" is not the world's best motivator.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gnerphk commentedI should be specific: in the new client, it's possible, using the (otherwise inactive) Diplomacy / Message Log, to read messages sent using the old system. Likewise, it's possible to read the new messages through the Feed to the right of the Home screen. However, the Message Log loses more than a few of the Feed diplomacy and the Feed can't read the old stuff at all.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gnerphk commentedRespectfully, I disagree.
Oh, I certainly concur that the original statistics displays, the profile page, and most especially the original Forum format were superior to that which we have now in several respects. I happen to like some of the new features, but that's not why I disagree.
Instead, I'm in favor of the platform. It's all subsurface stuff, but it makes a huge difference in the end result; we've got better long-term potential here than we did there. Actually, as I understand it, the old page is nearly obsolete and will not run on several platforms. The new page gives trouble to XP users (about a third of us by my mark) but we can evade that by using Firefox (much though I detest it for any other purpose).

An error occurred while saving the comment Gnerphk commentedI approve of the idea. I'd mention only that it may be data-intensive and therefore cost us money in increased subscription fees. Technically, right now we can get by using freemail accounts to ape these functions -- less well, I'll grant, but still, free is free.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gnerphk commentedActually, I'm in favor of large fleet/planet donations. Diplomacy is the most essential factor in a multiplayer game.
IP tracking, however, is a reasonable precaution.
Perhaps this would be more acceptable if the bonuses were less -- a price for a service, if you will.
