  1. Right now you can either join a fast game (7/week dropping to 3/week after 15 turns), or a slow game (2/week all the way through).

    Much more useful would be a game that runs 7/week for a brief period, then drop to 3/week until the shiplimit is hit, and then 2/week from then on

  2. As far as I know you do not get an email when a new player joins a game or when a player drops one.

    It is true that you get that on the game info page under game events at the bottom but I think it will be useful too to get an email every time there is is an entrance on the game events.

  4. Some of us on Nu would like to propose some modest modifications to Ion Storms to limit the degree of adverse impact in games.

    As currently implemented, an ion storm can appear without warning, completely changing the balance of a sector. This can be inherently unfair as players would have invested months if not a year or more into the outcome of a particular game.

    After discussion with some players on this issue, the ratified suggestions for implementation would be:

    1.) Allow at least one turn warning before a storm appears in a particular spot. With that one turn window…

  5. there is something wrong in the cargo transfer for allied cloakers.

    while in the old rst-trn system you could not find allied cloakers on your screen to transfer cargo to, and also could not transfer to ships that were visible and then cloaked away. correct me if i am wrong.

    we now have, with the allied rst (so to say) -on the screen- the ship visible and accessible for cargo transfers.

    our new system collides there with the original, and i think there is a bug or at least strange behaviour in it: if the ship is cloaked or cloaks…

  8. Is this a bug?

    In game 191080 we reached now turn20.
    It is an DM 1.25 game.

    I have:
    43 planets
    6 starbases
    41 ships
    78495 military score

    I got e.g. the turn 40 growing power award,
    but not the turn 20 "the ships are mine" one,
    which required as robot:
    15 planets
    3 starbases
    40 ships
    military 56.000
    with an DM 1.25.

  10. Hi,

    Many of us have entered Nu with whatever name or came in from the social media and have to stick to this one name, whether they want or not.

    On some profile pages you can find different names than the original when entering, so there might be the need for a changeable avatar name... doesn't have to be indefinetely, but a change should be possible.

    somehow the 'display name' field seems not to have any effect, btw..

    could this please be implemented/debugged?

  11. I have seen several friends make the mistake of accidentally enabling vacation mode and missing turns when they did not want too, and suggest making it stand out so that its very clear when its on.

  12. In original VGAP there was a configuration that allowed you to change the names of the races. Presumably for copyright purposes, Tim never used the proper names he was clearly designing the races after. So the Federation became the feds, the Galactic Empire became the Evil Empire, etc. But with this configuration that Tim included you could enter in whatever you wanted to call your race.

    There were three changes you could make for each race. I recall the first two being very similar, as being the Long form noun, and the shortened noun. The third was the adjective describing…

  13. Making request for official 2v2 Blitz format.

    Some people have said that this is not needed because you can just create your own custom game, but here's why that's not true:

    Reasons why an official 2v2 Blitz format is needed:

    • You can't create publicly listed games with < 8 players. Thus, 2v2 Blitz games can't be advertised well and will be hard to get started.

    • Setting up a map with the right settings so that you get the right starting locations is a non-trivial task. I've already tried half a dozen times by fiddling with the map creation settings, but…

  14. The current tenacity system sucks completely. Due to rl illness, I missed three turns in three games and was dropped! I could NOT rejoin for some reason and my tenacity went from around 65% to -16%

    First there is NO way tenacity should EVER be <0% OR >100%! Don't make sense!

    I suggest a new way to calculate "tenacity"!

    1) The percentage of turns played vs turns you should have played! So if you played 75% of your turns that would be your tenacity rating!

    OR

    2) The percentage of games played + games still active to the number of…

  15. A few of us have been talking about an addition of another 'hotkey' that would place an 8 LY ring(s) exactly like HYP, around any planet/ship/open space. It would certainly be a great help in navigation, with no additional racial grumblings.

  16. Even if you manually first upgrade Tech levels, if you press 'Cancel Construction' it removes them, which is evident since the upgraded techs are greyed-out.

    If a player upgrades Beam Tech in prep for it being attacked, and then 'Cancel Construction' since planets may be attacked, he may not notice his Beam Tech upgrade was undone!

  17. I don't see a ticket for Ace Rimmer's suggestion, so here's me adding one:

    Lone Wolf format: adding this type of game into to the regular game system and game hosting by allowing the "Lone Wolf" type of game to outlaw Diplomacy, "gsx" friendly codes and maybe even the force surrender starbase mission making it impossible for races to work together. Only posting on the public game feed would be allowed.

  18. I mean, this fighting rules exist about 20 years. How about make them a real battle between many ships at one time.
    That could also decline the problem of having weaker top-level ships compared to the competitors...

  19. privateers have not a powerful torpedo ship as flagship, I would like a ship tech level 10 with 10 beams and 6 or 8 weapon Torps with good fuel load and cargo.

  20. Sometimes 2/3 of the black background fill on Ship Assembly Panel is absent, and depending on what is on your Starmap it can make it very hard to read and use.
